Getting cover off car seat http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/25/getting-cover-off-car-seat Wed, 09 Feb 2011 07:50:51 -0600 sarahholburn 25@/forum/discussions Is it just me or has anyone else spent 2 hours trying to wrangle the fabric car seat cover off to wash it. After my 2 yr old up threw up on a quick trip down the A31 her 5 point harness car seat needed more than just a wipe down. I'm sure at some point I must've washed it before but as the same car seat has been used for 3 kids I couldn't find the instructions.
Had one of those agghh.. 'I can do this/for heavens sake, this cant be that hard/I am literally going to rip this to shreds in a minute' times.
Eventually managed it but what a palava. Can someone remind me what age/weight we swap to a forward facing booster without cover?!

Pet Rabbit http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/24/pet-rabbit Sat, 15 Jan 2011 06:22:30 -0600 sarahholburn 24@/forum/discussions We have a lovely pet rabbit called Charlie. He is so cute but a bit on the plump side. Our vet suggested we take him to pet slimming world but like any normal busy mother of 3 I giggled and said we would try feeding him less!
Anyway, poor Charlie sometimes gets poo stuck to his fur which periodically costs us £70 at the vets to spruce him up. Without wishing to sound bonkers I decided that I should be able to try to deal with this myself and save us a lot of money. I saw a programme the other day which said if you lie a rabbit on their back they go into a trance. We wrapped Charlie in an old towel laid him back and amazingly he was totally out of it. My 10 yr old stroked his nose gently whilst I clipped his nails and cleaned him up. Then when we were done we slowly turned him over and he woke up, job done. I wonder if this works on Guinea Pigs too. Shame it doesn't work on the kids really when you need 5 mins peace ;-)
Ill still take Charlie for his jabs etc. but just in case anyone else has this bizarre issue it works a treat. The things I have to do at 8am on a Sat morning!!

New iPhone App to keep the little ones entertained on Car Journeys http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/23/new-iphone-app-to-keep-the-little-ones-entertained-on-car-journeys Wed, 08 Dec 2010 07:11:35 -0600 klfrancis 23@/forum/discussions Hi Guys,
We have just launched a new app to help keep little ones (and big ones) entertained on journeys whether it is a quick journey to the shops or something a bit more substantial. The App works like iSpy, select your journey time and the app selects 9 random things for you to find whilst you are out and about. The objects are in picture form with words underneath which is perfect for younger users. You can find more info here http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/spot-it-car-game/id405056613?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
Hope you find it useful, my niece and nephew love it.

Neocate Baby Formula http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/6/neocate-baby-formula Tue, 29 Jun 2010 05:40:57 -0600 sarahholburn 6@/forum/discussions Our baby has severe reflux and after refusing to breast feed anymore is now taking Neocate formula in a bottle. Is anyone else familiar with this milk and if so did it help your baby to settle?

Pet bereavement http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/18/pet-bereavement Thu, 28 Oct 2010 15:09:51 -0600 katie wall 18@/forum/discussions We're currently holding a late night vigil for our pet hamster who we're sure is living out the last of her days. While our eldest seems entirely unperturbed by the whole affair, our middle daughter is totally distraught! This happened last time a pet passed away, so quite why we keep putting her through this, I don't know – is it wise to cause them so much anguish or is this a good way to learn about life (or more accurately, death)?

Re-usable nappies !!! http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/20/re-usable-nappies Sat, 30 Oct 2010 16:40:25 -0600 Penney1976 20@/forum/discussions Has anyone got any thoughts on re-usable nappies
I have just started to use them much to my husbands
disgust !!! The main reasons I have chosen to use them
is to save , money and ofcourse the enviromental factor.

So far do good I have been really impressed with them
and they wash up well although I am a bit of a fair time user
as if I am going out for the entire day I will opt
for disposables as I'm not lugging dirty / wet nappies around
with me.

But everything helps and the more I use them the more
it helps with the enviroment and also our pockets.

Although my biggest challenge is to convert my beloved
that they are actually a good idea !!!!

Weaning 6months plus http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/21/weaning-6months-plus Sat, 30 Oct 2010 16:51:33 -0600 Penney1976 21@/forum/discussions I am apprehensive at now weaning my 15 week old
as the guidelines have now changed from 3 months to 4 and now
jumped to 6 months. My 15 week old drinks hungrier
baby milk every hour now and a whole 8ozs and has hone from
sleeping 10hrs at night to waking every 3.

This baby is ready for food surely and not to mention
the dribbling he makes when we all sit down for a meal
it makes us feel guilty for eating in front of him !!!

When presenting this to our health visitor she told us that
we should maybe cuddle him or take him for a walk!!!! Hmmmm

In the end she told us that it's upto I'd what we do on our own
home and just think of what we are doing to his poor insides

So I weaned my 10 year old at 3 months and he has no problems
allergies etc along with every other child and adult over the age
of 6 so should I really feel guilty to wean him ???

Anyway we have started on banana and he can't get enough
he has settled right down in the day and is doing an
8 hour stint at night so is it fair that we should be made to feel so
guilty ????

Shopping for children's shoes http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/19/shopping-for-children-s-shoes Thu, 28 Oct 2010 15:58:44 -0600 lori 19@/forum/discussions Why is it such a headache?! Children's shoe shops in general seem to be busy all of the time. It takes ages to get served, and then it's normally via a ticketing machine which tells you what number you are in the queue. It feels like you are waiting forever! There are also never any shoes in your child's size, and so by the time a decent pair of shoes does eventually appear, you find that your own child is so tired, bored and irritable that you still end up coming out of the shop without a pair. So basically you have wasted about 4 hours of your day with nothing to show for it!!!! Someone should start a mobile shoe fitting company!

Academic Tutors http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/17/academic-tutors Thu, 28 Oct 2010 00:53:55 -0600 sarahholburn 17@/forum/discussions Is anyone out their feeling the same 'tutor guilt' as me. I don't believe in all this tutoring from Yr2, if there are no apparent problems at school. However, I worry that I might be letting my kids down by not following the crowd and keeping up with their peers. Agghh.. my mum says that in our day we just went to the local school, had fun, learnt to the best of our ability with no pressure. How times have changed eh!

Clingy Toddler http://mymummyandme.co.uk/forum/discussion/9/clingy-toddler Wed, 20 Oct 2010 03:54:38 -0600 sarahholburn 9@/forum/discussions Anyone have any tips on how to ease my 20m old's distress when I want to leave her side, literally for a second, or speak to anyone else besides her! I know it's just a phase but I am finding it absolutely exhausting and unable to socialise when all my mum friend's are chatting away happily.

Other than expensive portable DVD players (and several hours of eye-spy!), does anyone have any top tips for keeping them occupied?
